Pickle Patrol Handheld Tool
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Since 1926, The Mt. Olive Pickle Company has grown to be the best selling brand of pickles in the Southeast, and the second-best selling brand of non-refrigerated pickles in the country. To improve data accuracy, maintainability, as well as managerial decision-making Mt. Olive needed to enhance its Handheld based “Pickle Patrol” application and rewrite its back-office reporting Admin Tool. Mt. Olive partnered with JSWCo to build a handheld application using the compact .NET framework used by the field sales “Pickle Patrol” team to collect pricing, facing, distribution, and other marketing data at various retail distribution locations around the country. The data is stored in Pocket SQL on the handheld and replicated to a SQL Server database. JSWCo built an ASP.NET based reporting, data import, and admin tool for data mining and review.

Krispy Kreme partnered
with JSW & Co. to evaluate the company’s internal raw material order and
delivery process. An initial analysis and design engagement concluded that
improving process and supply chain communication would deliver significant ROI.
Microsoft-based web development tools were used to build a system that replaced
many of the manual procedures that formerly had dominated much of the supply
chain. The new supply chain system was deployed inside Krispy Kreme’s existing
intranet portal, and the system synchronized data with the existing Macola
accounting, inventory and billing system. Krispy Kreme management has praised
the system’s effectiveness internally and in the press on numerous occasions.
J.S. Walker has continued to provide custom software development services for
Krispy Kreme, most recently using Microsoft .Net technology.

Internet-based Purchase Order System. |
 |
|
|
|
|
|
Century Furniture
Industries needed a solution to deliver purchase orders to their 1,000
suppliers worldwide. Century had installed a world-class ERP system using SAP,
and the Century VP of Global Logistics envisioned a web-based purchase order
system as a strategic addition to the core SAP functionality.
Century decided
to develop a pilot web-based purchase order system and chose J.S. Walker &
Co. to be their development partner. Century Supplier Net was created to take
the purchase order data from SAP and deliver it to the supplier seamlessly.
J.S. Walker & Co. worked closely with Century IT staff to not only help
solve the technical issues, but also to create a solution that was
well-received by the supplier community and which achieved payback in less than
one year.

TreoSystems
- a start up firm focused on delivering point-of-service solutions to the
retail industry - needed a development partner to pilot a wireless handheld
application suite, to be marketed to "big box" retailers. J.S. Walker & Co.
was chosen after evaluating several software firms.
J.S. Walker
& Co. provided technical research and development of iPAL, and rapidly
completed the initial project -- within an aggressive 60-day window. The
application uses the Microsoft .NET framework and is deployable on several
manufacturers' handheld devices. J.S. Walker & Co. partially credits the
.NET framework for its speed to market.
Cisco systems
has recognized TreoSystems as one of its value-added partners, and has placed
the iPAL solution in each of their five Executive Briefing Centers.

A
paper and pad manufacturing company, which had highly seasonal demand, knew
that accurate sales forecasts very critical. Their existing attempts to
manually collect and analyze forecasts using spreadsheets was complicated by
the need to communicate with a number of field sales personnel scattered across
the country. We created a web-based sales forecast system developed with
Microsoft .NET that uses forecasting models to establish initial estimates that
can be viewed and edited by the sales staff. The models account for seasonal
variations are based on actual data that is automatically retrieved from an
AS/400 system. Reporting is done through the .NET Crystal Report engine, which
produces high quality reports into PDF documents for printing or downloading
from the web site.

The LIFO system provides
a remote data entry tool for auto dealerships to enter LIFO accounting figures
for their end-of-year car inventory. Tax department and administrative users
access the site to consolidate and calculate the final LIFO data. This system
replaced a manual process where diskettes of data were submitted from the
dealerships. The intranet site uses the latest in Microsoft .NET technology.

J.S. Walker &
Company, Inc. has developed and is providing a web-based, business-to-business
procurement application specifically designed to accommodate users that process
Request for Quotes - RFQs. This application uses a "cart" approach to collect
RFQ information and provides a means to forward these requests on to selected
vendors. These vendors then provide price and availability through the
application allowing for a final quotation to be sent to the customer. The
customer accesses this web-based system to check quotes, place orders, and view
status.

users to define and monitor a custom set of performance measures. Data for
these measurements can come from multiple sources. The KPI system can import
fixed width, delimited, or XML-formatted files. Validation and translation of
data can be controlled by the application and performed automatically. Custom
reporting, with high graphical content, is supported.

Reports. |

A large financial
institution wanted to provide branch personnel with detailed demographic,
competitive, and product use data for their specific market area. With more
detailed information, local managers could adapt their marketing efforts to the
unique needs of their customers and prospects. The challenge was to produce an
18-page report, customized for each one of their 2500 branches, with data
sourced from 5 or 6 dissimilar systems. J.S. Walker & Company designed and
constructed the Oracle database, the entire data loading process, the report
package, and the distribution procedures.
